Bonvalotidine A is a lycoctonine that has been isolated from the root of Bonvalota diffusa. It belongs to the group of c19-diterpenoid alkaloids, which are five-membered or six-membered rings. This molecule contains a carbon atom in the 19th position and an oxygen atom in the 20th position. The skeleton of this molecule is composed of two fused rings, one five-membered and one six-membered. There are also two intramolecular bonds between the carbon atoms in positions C1 and C2, and between positions C5 and C6. These bonds provide stability to the molecule. Hydrogen bonding occurs between methoxy groups at positions O4 and O5 with hydroxyl groups at positions C7, C8, and C10.
