(S)-6,7-Dihydro-2-nitro-6-[[4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl]methoxy]-5H-imidazo[2,1-b][1,3]oxazine is a prodrug that is converted to pyrazinoic acid in vivo. It has been shown to have a matrix effect on the bowel wall and can be used for the treatment of infectious diseases such as pandemic influenza. The optimum concentration of (S)-6,7-dihydro-2-nitro-6-[(4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl)methoxy]-5H-[1,3]imidazol[2,1-b][1]oxazine for activity is unknown but it has been shown to inhibit the polymerase chain reaction at concentrations up to 500 μM.
