4-Ethyl-2,6-bis(3-pyridinylmethylene)-cyclohexanone (MBPC) is a cyclic ketone with antineoplastic activity. It induces the production of reactive oxygen species and inhibits DNA synthesis by binding to coactivators. MBPC blocks transcription in cancer cells and prevents cell proliferation by inhibiting the activity of steroid hormone receptors. This agent has been shown to be effective against leukemia, breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, and pancreatic cancer.
