Description:
Grazoprevir is a drug that is used to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. It is an inhibitor of the NS5A protein and has been shown to be effective in treating HCV genotype 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Grazoprevir binds to the NS5A protein and prevents it from being able to interact with RNA polymerase. Grazoprevir has been shown to reduce viral load in patients with HCV genotypes 1-6 who were not previously treated with interferon or ribavirin. Grazoprevir has also been shown to have a low potential for drug interactions and can be taken without food restrictions. However, its use may be limited by hepatic impairment (such as cirrhosis).
